Age bands: adults, children and infants
Tell guests who counts as an adult, a child or an infant on your site, for example Adults (13+) and Children (2 to 12), and let babies stay free without taking a place.
Last updated September 28, 2026
Most campsites do not price by "under 18". They price adults from 13 or 16, children from 2 or 3 up to 12 or 15, and babies free. Age bands let you say exactly that once, and every booking form then shows it in its labels.
Switching it on
Go to Settings → Payments and find the Booking form card. Tick Set who counts as an adult, child or infant, then give the child range: the youngest age that counts as a child and the oldest. Anyone older than the range is an adult. A preview line under the fields shows what guests will read, for example:
Adults (13+) · Children (2–12) · Infants (under 2)
Save, and the labels change everywhere at once: your Campiamo website's booking page, the booking widget on your own site, the dashboard's New Booking and Edit forms, POS, and the page guests use to change their own booking.
Leave the setting off and nothing changes: guests see "Adults" and "Children", and everyone under 18 counts as a child, as before.
Infants
If the child range starts above 0, an Infants box appears for anyone younger. Infants are never charged, on any pitch type, and they are not offered per-person extras.
Whether an infant takes a place is your call. Tick Infants count towards a pitch's maximum number of people if a cot in a pod uses one of its beds. Leave it unticked if a baby in a travel cot does not change how many people the pitch can take. Either way the booking form enforces the maximum you set on each pitch type.
Child ages
Guests still type each child's age. With bands on, the age has to fall inside the child range, so someone trying to book a 15-year-old as a child on a 2 to 12 site is told that anyone 13 or over counts as an adult, and a one-year-old typed as a child is pointed at the Infants box. The same check runs on the dashboard forms, so staff cannot slip past it by accident.
Where the counts show up
- Emails. Confirmations, invoices, payment requests and your own new-booking alert list the party as "2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant", in your site's language.
- Booking pages. The dashboard booking page, POS today board and the guest's confirmation page all show infants separately.
- Arrivals export. The arrivals sheet has an Infants column. With an infant band it uses the count the guest gave; without one it falls back to any typed ages under two.
- AI assistants. Assistants booking through Campiamo see your age policy and pass an infants count, so a family of two adults, a child and a baby is quoted correctly.
- Channels. Booking.com and the others only send us blocked dates, so nothing changes there. Where a channel does pass an infants count, it lands in the Infants column only if you have an infant band.
Changing the bands later
Existing bookings keep the adults, children and infants they were made with. Changing the range never rewrites history, and it never reprices a booking that has already been taken. It only affects what new bookings ask for.
