The calendar
How to read the availability calendar, act on bookings from it, and block pitches for maintenance, walk-ins or private use — and how blocks affect what guests can book.

The calendar is the one place you can see everything that occupies your site: every booking, every manual block, and every date a channel like Booking.com has sold. It reads the same availability as your website, your widgets and your channels, so what you see here is exactly what guests can — and cannot — book.
Reading the calendar
Each row is a pitch type, with its name and how many units it has under the label. Each column is a day. Today's column is highlighted, with a vertical line running down the grid, and weekends are shaded slightly.
Bookings appear as horizontal bars showing the guest's name (and the assigned pitch, if you've set one). The colour is the booking's status:
- Amber — pending
- Green — confirmed
- Indigo — checked in
- Grey — checked out
Cancelled bookings don't appear at all. A bar that runs off the edge of the view has square ends on that side — the stay continues beyond what you can see.
Bookings that arrived through a connected channel carry a coloured stripe on their left edge in that channel's colour, and the legend at the top shows which channels are in view. If you've set up seasons, each day's header is tinted in the season's colour too.
Blocked dates appear as striped bars below the bookings in each row — more on those below.
Getting around
Three views, switched with the buttons at the top right:
- Month — the default: one row per pitch type, one column per day of the month.
- Week — the same grid, seven days at a time.
- List — bookings grouped by day, showing each day's check-ins and check-outs (and, for today, who's currently staying). This is the view you get on a phone.
The arrows move a month or a week at a time, and Today jumps back to the current date from wherever you've wandered.
The list view shows bookings only. Blocks appear on the week and month grids.
Acting on bookings from the calendar
Hover over a booking bar and a card appears with the essentials: guest name, dates, nights, status, total, and which channel it came through. The card also has quick actions, so you can confirm, check in, check out or cancel a booking without leaving the calendar — cancelling asks first, and notifies the guest. Clicking the bar itself opens the full booking page (see managing bookings).
You can also start a booking from the grid: click a day cell and drag across the nights you want. A counter shows how many nights you've selected, and releasing opens the new booking form with the pitch type and dates already filled in.
Blocking dates
Sometimes you need dates off sale without a booking attached: a pitch out for maintenance, a unit you're keeping for a walk-in who'll pay at reception, family visiting, or simply holding stock back over a busy weekend. That's what Block pitch (top right of the calendar) is for.
A block takes a number of units of one pitch type off availability for a date range — no guest, no price, no paperwork:
- Press Block pitch and choose the pitch type.
- Pick the from and to dates.
- If the type has more than one unit, choose how many to block — anything from one unit up to all of them. A single-unit type skips this.
- Optionally add a short note ("Maintenance", "Walk-in — pitch 14"). The note becomes the bar's label on the calendar, so a good note saves you wondering later.
The block appears as a grey striped bar with a padlock icon in that pitch type's row. To remove one, press the × on the bar — the dates go back on sale immediately. There's no editing: to change a block's dates or units, remove it and create a new one.
You can block dates that already hold bookings. That's deliberate — it's how you keep dates closed in case a booking cancels. What you can't do is create a block that changes nothing: if every night in the range is already fully blocked, Campiamo refuses it and tells you to edit or remove the existing blocks instead.
Your blocks and channel blocks are not the same thing
If you sync a channel by calendar (Booking.com, Airbnb and the rest), the stays sold there arrive in Campiamo as blocks too — that's all a calendar file can carry. They look different and behave differently:
- Your blocks are grey, show a padlock and your note, and have a × to remove them.
- Channel blocks are striped in the channel's own colour, show a link icon and a label like "Booked on Booking.com", and have no remove button.
You cannot delete a channel block by hand. Deleting one would put dates on sale that the channel has already sold — and the sync would recreate it within 15 minutes anyway. Channel blocks clear themselves when the channel frees the dates; if a channel guest cancels, cancel it on the channel and the block disappears on the next sync.
Channel blocks are also self-healing in the other direction: an unchanged channel feed leaves them exactly as they are, and a block whose stay has left the feed is released automatically. You never manage them — the channel does. How the syncing works, and its limits, is covered in how channel sync works.
What a block does everywhere else
A block consumes units exactly the way a booking does. Availability for any date range is worked out from the busiest single night in that range, and on each night a block's units count alongside the bookings. Block 2 units of a 20-unit pitch type for a week, and guests can book at most 18 for any night of that week.
That one calculation feeds everything, so a block is respected everywhere at once:
- Your website and booking widgets stop selling the blocked units the moment the block exists.
- Your outbound channel calendars include blocked dates as busy, so iCal channels stop selling them the next time they read your calendar — when that happens is up to the channel.
- Direct API channels have their availability pushed as soon as you create or remove a block.
Removing a block reverses all of it: the units go back on sale everywhere, and connected channels are told.
