Link Google Calendar to Campiamo

The Google Calendar link works the same way as our channel connections, but it solves a different problem. Google Calendar isn't somewhere guests book — it's where the rest of your life is. Linking it to Campiamo is useful in two directions:

• Google → Campiamo: events on a Google calendar block the dates for a pitch type. The cabin is being re-roofed, family are staying, it's let privately over the winter — put it in the calendar and it can't be booked.
• Campiamo → Google: your bookings appear as busy periods in Google Calendar, so changeover days show up next to everything else you're juggling.

Use a dedicated calendar

Every event on the Google calendar you link blocks dates for that pitch type. Your dentist appointment would take a cabin off sale for the day.

So don't link your main personal calendar. In Google Calendar, create a calendar just for this — call it "Cabin blocks" or similar — and put only date-blocking events on it. Creating one takes a minute: in Google Calendar, Other calendars → Create new calendar.

Step 1: Create the connection in Campiamo

1. Go to Channels in the dashboard sidebar.
2. Find Google Calendar and choose Connect.
3. Pick the pitch type this calendar should control.

Step 2: Copy the calendar's secret address from Google

In Google Calendar (on a computer — these settings aren't in the mobile app):

1. Hover over your dedicated calendar in the left-hand list, open its Settings.
2. Scroll to Integrate calendar.
3. Copy the Secret address in iCal format — not the public address, which only works if the calendar is public.

Treat the secret address like a password: anyone with it can read the calendar. If it ever leaks, Google's settings let you reset it — then update the connection in Campiamo with the new one.

Step 3: Finish the connection in Campiamo

Paste the secret address into the calendar link field and save. Campiamo validates it immediately, then reads the calendar every 15 minutes. Events become blocked dates on the pitch type, marked as coming from Google Calendar. Delete or shorten an event and the dates free up on the next sync.

Step 4 (optional): See your bookings in Google Calendar

After saving, Campiamo shows your export link for the pitch type. In Google Calendar:

1. Next to Other calendars, choose From URL.
2. Paste the Campiamo link and add it.

Your bookings, blocks and closures now appear as busy periods in Google.

Google refreshes calendars added by URL on its own schedule — often only every several hours, sometimes longer, and there is no refresh button. It will always catch up, but don't rely on Google Calendar for a live arrivals view; that's what your Campiamo dashboard is for.

Things worth knowing

• All-day events and timed events both block whole dates. A calendar carries dates for availability purposes, so a 2pm–3pm event on the 12th blocks the 12th.
• One calendar per pitch type. Like every calendar connection, one link controls one pitch type. To block dates across several pitch types, put the event in each linked calendar — or skip Google entirely and use Campiamo's own block feature on the calendar page, which exists for exactly this.
• No guest data flows either way. Bookings appear in Google as busy periods without guest details beyond what the event title carries.

When something is wrong

"That link did not return a calendar feed." — you've copied the public address of a private calendar, or a page URL. Go back to Integrate calendar and copy the Secret address in iCal format.

Dates are blocked and you can't see why. — open the linked Google calendar; any event on it, however small, blocks its dates. The Channels page sync log shows exactly what was read and when.
