Track bookings as conversions in Meta and Google ads
Put your Meta pixel and Google Analytics 4 tag on every page a guest books through, including the widgets on your own site, so each booking shows up as a conversion in Ads Manager and GA4.

If you pay for Facebook, Instagram or Google ads, the question that matters is which ads bring bookings. Conversion tracking answers it: your own Meta pixel and Google Analytics 4 tag load on the pages a guest passes through, and each booking is reported back as a purchase with its value. From then on Ads Manager and GA4 can show you cost per booking and optimise your campaigns for bookings rather than clicks.
Conversion tracking is part of the Growth plan and above.
What gets tracked
| Where | What is sent |
|---|---|
| Your Campiamo website | A page view on every page |
| The booking and availability widgets on your own website | A page view on the page the widget sits on, Search when a guest checks dates, and InitiateCheckout (GA4: begin_checkout) when they press Confirm |
| The booking page guests reach from a widget or a direct booking link | A page view, and InitiateCheckout when they go to pay |
| The confirmation page | Purchase (GA4: purchase) with the booking reference, the total and the currency |
The same two ids are used everywhere, so you set them once and they follow the guest whichever way they arrive. A reload of the confirmation page does not count the booking twice.
Setting it up
- In Meta Events Manager, open Data sources and copy your pixel ID, a number of 15 or 16 digits. In Google Analytics, open Admin → Data streams and copy the measurement ID, which starts with
G-. - In your Campiamo dashboard go to Settings → Conversion Tracking.
- Paste one or both ids and save.
That is all. You do not need to add the pixel to your own website by hand: when a guest opens a page with one of our widgets on it, the widget loads your pixel and tag onto that page if they are not already there. If your site already runs the pixel, the widget uses it and does not send a second page view.
Seeing it in Meta and Google
In Meta, the Purchase event appears in Events Manager within a few minutes of a test booking, with its value. Choose it as the conversion event when you create a sales campaign, so Meta optimises for people who book. In GA4 the purchase event appears under Reports → Monetisation, and you can mark begin_checkout and purchase as key events under Admin → Events.
Why the ad still gets the credit after payment
Payment happens on Stripe's or PayPal's page, away from your site, and that hand-off is where tracking usually loses the thread. Campiamo keeps the click ids that Meta and Google put on the link a guest clicked (fbclid, gclid and their relatives) and carries them through checkout to the confirmation page, where the pixel reads them. The booking is credited to the ad that brought the guest, not recorded as a visit from nowhere.
Privacy
The pixel and tag are yours and run under your Meta and Google accounts, so the same rules apply as on any site you own. If your site asks visitors for cookie consent, the widget loads the tags on your page as soon as it loads, so make sure that fits the consent you collect. Campiamo sends the booking value and reference to the pixel, never the guest's name or email.
