Directory privacy notice
This notice explains what happens to your information when you browse Campiamo Campsites, send a campsite an enquiry, or book a stay through a listing. It is written for campers; campsites that use the Campiamo software have their own notice.
Last updated 2 October 2026
Who is responsible
Campiamo runs the directory at campiamo.com/campsites and is responsible for the information collected by the directory itself. When you enquire about or book a stay, the campsite you are dealing with becomes responsible for your booking information, and Campiamo processes it on the campsite's behalf as the provider of its booking software. Questions about this notice: hello@campiamo.com.
Browsing the directory
You do not need an account, and searching, filtering and checking prices does not store anything about you beyond ordinary web server logs (your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and when), which we keep for a short period for security and to keep the site running. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them; see cookies.
Sending a campsite an enquiry
An enquiry from a listing asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number and your message. We pass it to the campsite, which sees it in its Campiamo dashboard and by email and replies to you directly. We keep a copy so the campsite can see its enquiries and so we can run the service. The campsite is responsible for how it uses your enquiry after that.
Booking a stay
When you book, you fill in the campsite's booking form: the names and ages of your party, your contact details, your address where the campsite asks for it, any extras, and anything you tell the campsite in the notes. This information belongs to the campsite's booking records; Campiamo stores and processes it to run the campsite's bookings, send its confirmations and reminders, and keep its calendar, and does not use it for its own marketing.
Payment card details are entered directly with the campsite's payment provider (Stripe or PayPal) and never pass through or are stored by Campiamo. We receive only the confirmation that payment succeeded and the amount.
After a stay the campsite may invite you to leave a review, and may record a short conduct rating about the stay for the benefit of other campsites using Campiamo; this is explained in the Campiamo privacy policy.
Booking through an AI assistant
If you use an AI assistant to find or book a campsite through Campiamo's connector, the assistant sends us the search details you give it, and your name and email address only when you ask it to start a booking. From that point the booking is handled exactly as above. What the assistant keeps about your conversation is governed by the assistant's own privacy policy.
Contacting us
Messages sent through the directory's contact page go to Campiamo's own inbox, where we keep them to answer you and for our records.
Who else sees your information
- The campsite you enquire with or book with, as described above.
- Our service providers: hosting, email delivery (Resend), and the campsite's payment provider for the payment itself.
- Analytics providers, only if you accept analytics cookies: Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Meta and OpenAI.
We do not sell your information or share it with anyone else for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
Server logs are kept for a short period. Enquiries and booking records are kept for as long as the campsite needs them for its bookings and accounts, and are removed when a campsite leaves Campiamo and its data is deleted. Messages to us are kept while they are useful for answering you.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the information held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to how it is used. For your booking information, the campsite is the right first contact and is in your confirmation email; we will help it respond. For anything the directory holds, write to hello@campiamo.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
We will update this notice if the directory changes what it collects. The date at the top shows the current version.
