About this site
Woodfrys Farm is a 25 acre smallholding, tucked in the north Dorset countryside just outside Shaftesbury. Owners Liam & Hannah, run a mixed farm with nature-friendly farming methods. The heart of the farm is the stunning water meadow, where water and wildlife meet. Camping is tucked between the lake and a chalk stream. With just 4 pitches and one Shepherd’s Hut, this dog friendly site is a great place to escape it all. Paddling in the stream, fishing, walking around the lake or just sitting and taking it all in is all on the cards here. We are now an adult only site. The camping pitches are large in size and are cut into the meadow grass with plenty of space to spread out. The Shepherd's Hut is a vintage hut with its own large field kitchen and private facilities. Situated in the Cranborne Chase National Landscape internationally renowned for its dark skies, starry nights and good campfires are part of the daily ritual here. The valley comes alive at night, with bats swooping over the lake and the call of the tawny owl to help you reconnect to nature. Walk or drive - it's all in easy reach: You can walk or cycle from the farm, or within a short drive you can visit stunning countryside, hillforts and market towns. Or take a day trip to the Dorset coast and visit some of the finest beaches of the Jurassic Coast. Facilities: Compost toilets, hot showers and a hot washing up station with a wild-Woodfrys touch. Each pitch comes with a fire pit, a picnic table and a parasol. Sustainably harvested wood from the farm, with kindling and lightings available to purchase. Car free environment. Sorry we don’t currently accept campervans or motorhomes. Worth Noting: Minimum one night stay for camping or two nights for the Shepherd's Hut. Reach the market town of Shaftesbury within 10 minutes drive, or walk out of the farm onto the National Trust's Melbury Beacon for stunning views in all directions. Maximum two well behaved dogs.
